Excel for Mac does not have Evaluate Formula. Teyres fills that gap. Press ⇧⌥A on a cell and a panel shows its formula as a tree, one row per sub-expression, with the value Excel calculates for each one. As you move through the tree, the cells involved are highlighted on the sheet.

site/media/tree.gifThere's no Evaluate Formula, so you're left reading a nested formula in the bar and working it out in your head. The auditors that do exist are add-ins, web pages running inside Excel and built for the mouse. We spent too many hours like that, so we built Teyres: a native Mac app that shows you the whole formula and keeps your hands on the keyboard.
It sits over Excel as a small panel that follows the selected cell, and Excel keeps keyboard focus while it is open. Every action is a keystroke.
Each sub-expression is a row with the value Excel computed for it. Move with W S or the arrow keys, and open or close rows with D A or → ←. The cells a row refers to are highlighted on the sheet while that row is selected.
site/media/precedents.gifSelect the SUMIFS, COUNTIFS or AVERAGEIFS row in the tree and the cells it matched are highlighted on the sheet. Press ⌃⌥← and ⌃⌥→ with Excel in front and Excel's selection moves through those cells one at a time. That works from the tree alone; the inspector is for the detail.
site/media/inspector.gifPress ⇧⌥S on a cell. Dependents on the same sheet appear first, then the rest of the workbook is scanned. Space moves to one of them and runs the scan again from there.
site/media/dependents.gifSelect a range and press ⇧⌥D. Each cell is drawn as a square coloured by its formula pattern. A constant typed over a formula, or a fill that stopped early, shows up as a square of a different colour. Hover to see the formula. Click to select every cell with that pattern.

On first launch a setup window walks you through it. Press Allow… and macOS asks whether Teyres may control Microsoft Excel. Allow it: that permission is how it reads formulas and highlights cells. It never writes to a workbook.
Put the cursor on a formula and press ⇧⌥A. Move with W S or the arrows, expand with D or →, jump with Space, close with Esc.
Excel keeps keyboard focus the whole time.

No. Teyres reads formulas and values, and highlights cells with temporary formatting that it removes when the panel closes. If Excel is interrupted part-way, the Clear stuck highlights menu item removes anything left behind. It does not write values and does not save the workbook.
There is no telemetry or analytics, in the app or on this site. The app contacts Polar to activate and check your license (your license key, plus this Mac's name when you activate) and teyres.com once a day for updates. Cell contents, formulas and file names are never sent by the app. Problem reports are built on your Desktop and only leave your Mac if you email them. More in the privacy statement.

Real. Every value shown was calculated by Excel and read from Excel, so volatile functions, your calculation settings and your locale behave as they do in the sheet. Where the app cannot confirm a value is exact, it tells you.
